Films hiver 2013/été 2014

///

Novembre :

Margot at the Wedding - Baumbach (2007)
Few boring - and unclear and unnecessary - sequences. The process of the story more generally is awesome. With some bergmanian scenes at the end. Complementary actresses.

The Royal Tenenbaums - Anderson
.***

As Good as it Gets -
.Nicholson as a neurotic writer getting cured thanks to an eccentric waitress.

////

Décembre :

Les Chansons d'Amour - Honoré
.***

De Battre Mon Coeur S'est Arreté - Audiard
.**

Alien - Scott
.**

Don Jon - Gordon-Levitt
.**

Jaws - Spielberg
.*

///

Janvier :

The Last Temptation of Christ -
.** Strong moments between Jésus and Judas, and Jésus and Madeleine. The first speeches of Jésus are ridiculous though.

Casse-tête chinois - Klapish
.*

Nymphomaniac - Trier
.** Beautiful construction of a tryptic at the end of the first-part, between three kind of lovers which each of them being compared to a 'voice' in classical beethoven chorus.

Wolf of Wall Street - Scorcesse
.** Funnier than expected. Johan Hill is hilarious.

Fruitvale Station -
Such a caricature of the nice and way-to-perfect black guy dominated in a white-dominant society. So many clichés that it becomes grotesque.

In The Soup -
.*

Les derniers jours du monde - Larrieu
** Better than expected. Cleary a houellebecq-like movie. Awesomely well organized for such a complex and hard-to-believe story.

L'amour est un crime presque parfait - Larrieu
Pointless and annoying.

La fille du 14 juillet -
.** Fresh and burlesque. Lots of funny gags we don't see anymore. Globally annoying after the first - and surprising - 20 minutes.

2 automnes, 3 hivers - Betbeder
.

Un monde sans femmes - Brac
.

12 years a slave - McQueen
Very far from the intensity and complexity of the first two movies. McQueen didn't write the script and it's obvious.

Somebody Up There Likes Me - Byington
Indie american comedy (produced by Why Not). Usual trouble of that kind of movie: good ideas and fantastic actors but the script isn't dynamic enough not to get bored at the end.

Jeune et Jolie - Ozon
.**

///

Février :

Bancs publics - Podalydès
.* Even worst than I'd remember.

Le vent se lève - Myazaki
.**

Her - Spike Jonze
.**

Liar Liar -
.* Jim Carrey, a talented lawer, can't lie. A remarriage comedy.

It's Kind of a Funny Story - Fleck
.**

Jeanne et le garçon formidable -
Awesome songs. Ledoyen's magnificent.

Grand Budapest Hotel - Wes Anderson
A pure pleasure to watch.

///

Mars :

Guillaume et les garçons - Galienne
Pathetic. How is that considered as 'a movie'?

9 mois ferme - Dupontel
Not one single funny scene. Clichés only.

Dallas Buyers Club - Vallé (2013)
***

Ce qu'il restera de nous - Macaigne (2011)
Weird.

Cléo de 5 à 7 - Varda
***

Scream -
**

Wrong Cops - Dupieux
.***

La naissance des pieuvres -
. *

Enough Said -
. *

La bataille de Solférino - Triet
.*****

//

Avril :

Gerontophilia - LaBruce
. **

Computer Chess - Bujalski (2013)
.***

Your Sister's Sister - Shelton (2011)
.*** Less and less interesting. But awesome first part.

Humpday - Shelton (2009)
. **** The exact application of Your Sister's sister to another topic. Three characters, the confusion between homo and heterosexuality. And, of course: what does the question of having a child imply concerning commitment in a relationship?

The Descendants - Payne (2011)
.**

Beau-père - Blier (1981)
.**

//

Mai :

Oslo 31 August - Trier (2011)
**** It is not, as it is said, a film about the "last day of a drug addict": much more than that, it's the day of a guy who's decided to commit suicide. The result is awesome: characters explaining how rubbish their lives are, the unimportance of partying etc.

Reprise - Trier (2006)
*** Very similar to “Les amitités maléfiques”: two young writers, the most talented one is too crazy to achieve a proper “work”, the second his humble, an hard-worker and will through exile will find himself.

Me And You And Everyone We Know - July (2005)
.**

The Future - July (2011)
.

Husbands and Wives - Allen (1992)
.***

Godzilla -
.** Not that bad for a blockbuster

Juin :

Au Galop - (2013)

Deux jours, deux nuits - Dardenne (2014)
Hopefully they didn't get the Palme for it…

The Grand Budapest Hotel - Wes Anderson (2014)

Arman hors saison - Betbeder (2013)

Un amour de jeunesse - Hansen Love (2013)
